USPS releases stamp collection honoring military dogs

The U.S. Postal Service has released a new collection of “forever” stamps in honor of “the four-legged heroes of the nation’s military.”

The agency said it is now selling booklets of 20 stamps featuring a “stylized geometric illustration” of four breeds of U.S. service dogs: the German shepherd, the Labrador retriever, the Dutch shepherd and the Belgian Malinois.

{mosads}“As a military veteran and former law enforcement officer, I have the greatest appreciation for these animals and the service they provide,” David C. Williams, vice chairman of the U.S. Postal Service Board of Governors, said in the announcement.

“Today, these dogs are born and raised to serve alongside soldiers, sailors, marines, airmen and women, and members of the Coast Guard,” he continued. “They are heroes deserving of our respect and gratitude.”

The agency said the stamp artwork was created by DKNG Studios with hand-sketching and Adobe Illustrator software.

“The red, white and blue color scheme represents the American flag and the patriotism displayed by military working dogs,” the postal service said.
