Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and daughter Chelsea Clinton have joined forces to write “The Book of Gutsy Women,” which will honor major female figures.
“The Book of Gutsy Women: Favorite Stories of Courage and Resilience” features portraits of more than 100 women, including scientist Marie Curie, comedian Ellen DeGeneres and climate activist Greta Thunberg, as well as heroines among the Clintons’ friends and family, The Associated Press reports.
The book will come out on Oct. 1, publisher Simon & Schuster announced Tuesday.{mosads}
“To us, they are all gutsy women — leaders with the courage to stand up to the status quo, ask hard questions, and get the job done,” Hillary Clinton said in a statement. “This book is a continuation of a conversation Chelsea and I have been having since she was a little girl, and we are excited to welcome others into that conversation.”
The women in the book “share a fierce optimism that their work and lives will make a difference in the world,” Chelsea Clinton said in a statement.
“We hope readers will draw strength from their stories as we have, because if history shows one thing, it’s that the world needs more gutsy women,” she added.
While both Clintons have each written multiple books on their own — including former presidential candidate Hillary Clinton’s “What Happened,” which published after the 2016 election, and Chelsea Clinton’s “She Persisted: 13 American Women Who Changed the World” — this book is the first they will have written together, the AP notes.
