California high school students film video doing Nazi salute, singing Nazi marching song
A group of California high school students was shown on video doing the Nazi salute and singing a Nazi marching song during an awards ceremony last fall.
What appears to be a group of nearly a dozen male students from Pacifica High School in Garden Grove, Calif., is heard singing a Nazi marching song in the eight-second video as they raise their arms in a Nazi salute.
The video, which surfaced Monday when published in a report by The Daily Beast, was filmed last November before an after-hours, off-campus student athletics banquet, the school district wrote in a statement.
The video was shared among a small group of students on Snapchat, and school administrators didn’t find out about it until months later, the district added.{mosads}
“It was not brought to the attention of the administration of Pacifica High School until March of 2019, four months following the banquet, at which time school administrators took immediate action and addressed the situation with all students and families involved,” the Garden Grove Unified School District’s statement reads.
Administrators reportedly took “immediate action” to address the incident, but their response was not specified due to privacy laws.
“In response to this unfortunate incident, district and school administrators have reached out to community organizations to provide support that will continue to ensure an anti-bias learning environment and address issues of hate, bias, and exclusion with all staff and students,” the district said.
High schoolers in Orange County, Calif., posted a photo in March that showed teens making a Nazi salute around a swastika formed out of red solo cups, prompting police to investigate.
Earlier this year, officials at an Indiana high school said they were looking into a picture posted on Instagram that showed students appearing to give a Nazi salute.
