Thousands of fetal remains discovered at home of deceased doctor

More than 2,000 medically preserved fetal remains were reportedly found on Thursday on an Illinois property owned by a recently deceased doctor who performed abortions.

The family of Dr. Ulrich Klopfer, who died Sept. 3, found the 2,246 fetal remains while combing through his property in Will County, local station WNDU reported.

An attorney representing Klopfer reportedly notified the county coroner’s office on Thursday about the family’s discovery.

Klopfer performed abortions in Indiana with women’s health clinics in South Bend, Fort Wayne and Gary, but the state suspended his license in 2015 after two people accused him of performing abortions on 13-year-old girls without properly submitting records to the state’s health department, WNDU reported.{mosads}

He is thought to have performed 2,405 abortions between January 2012 and November 2013, the station reported.

Detectives found the remains at the scene, and they were taken by the coroner’s office as officials investigate the incident.

There is no evidence that any medical procedures were conducted at Klopfer’s Illinois property, the local outlet reported.
