A former chief of staff for former first lady Michelle Obama has been named the head of the advocacy group Time’s Up.

Tina Tchen will take over as the president and CEO of the organization from interim leader Rebecca Goldman, according to a tweet from Time’s Up on Monday.

“The work that Time’s Up does is personal to me, as I’m sure it is to many of you,” Tchen said in a video posted on the organization’s Twitter.

Tchen has been involved in women’s rights throughout her career, including leading the White House Council on Women and Girls and helping to launch the White House Summit on Working Families and the White House Task Force to Protect Students from Sexual Assault.

{mosads}”This work took on even more urgency two years ago when incredibly brave women and men who experienced sexual harassment in the workplace came forward and spoke,” she said in the video. “And they fueled this movement that has happened since then.”

The Time’s Up organization formed as the “Times’s Up” and “Me Too” movements gained steam in January 2018 in response to revelations of sexual harassment and assault allegations against a number of prominent men in multiple industries, largely starting with former Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein.

Time’s Up interim CEO Rebecca Goldman will officially be replaced on Nov. 1. Previous leader Lisa Borders stepped down after sexual assault allegations were brought against her son, Deadline reported.
