DCCC emails talking points on healthcare

In another example of Democrats’ increased effort to use their campaign apparatus for healthcare reform, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) sent out an email Tuesday night with a distinct policy focus on House Democrats’ healthcare bill.

On Tuesday, the House unveiled its $1 trillion healthcare reform bill.

The email, penned by DCCC Executive Director Jon Vogel, is clearly an effort to refute Republican attacks on the legislation, which includes a tax on wealthy Americans to pay for the overhaul.

“Before the ink even dried on the bill, the Republicans and their special interest friends have taken to the airwaves, spreading lies and misleading statistics to try and obstruct this progress. It’s critical that we all help fight back with the truth,” Vogel wrote.

The email then presents some talking points on the healthcare plan and asks for recipients to forward it to friends.

Here’s the kicker: Nowhere in the email does the DCCC ask for money.

It really remains to be seen if this sort of campaign, similar to President Obama’s use of his massive email, will have an impact on the healthcare debate.
