Obama’s approval rating slides in another poll

President Obama’s approval rating has slid slightly over the second quarter of 2009, according to polling data released on Monday.

The Gallup tracking poll shows that Obama hit a low point of 56 percent in early July. Over the quarter, though, Obama averaged a 62 percent approval rating.

The Gallup numbers come on the same day that a Washington Post/ABC News poll found Obama’s numbers slipping both generally and on specific issues.

Gallup notes, though, that Obama’s second quarter numbers, as a whole, are still better than his immediate predecessors.

There is a margin of error if plus or minus 1 percent in Gallup’s tracking poll.
