Cantor to preempt Obama presser, sort of
House Minority Whip Eric Cantor (R-Va.) will seek to steal the spotlight from President Obama Wednesday night when he holds a “Virtual Healthcare Forum.”
Cantor, along with Reps. Tom Price (R-Ga.) and Dave Camp (R-Mich.), will hold an online townhall on Pajamas Media, the right-leaning media outlet (www.pjtv.com) at 7 P.M., on hour before Obama’s prime time press conference.
Trying to preempt the president has been a favorite tactic of Republicans recently. In May, House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio) put out a release apparently responding to Obama’s big national security speech before Obama gave it.
And let’s not forget that Boehner also released a statement before Obama’s address to a joint session of Congress in February. With that one, Boehner called it a “pre-buttal.”
