The body of a 26-year-old Instagram influencer was discovered on the side of a road in Houston over the weekend, according to multiple reports.
The Houston Police Department said Monday that Alexis Sharkey had no visible wounds and that her cause of death has not yet been determined, NBC News reported. Paramedics found her body on Saturday morning near a portion of Interstate 10 west of downtown Houston.
A Houston Public Works employee first discovered her body, according to ABC13 in Houston.
Sharkey’s mother, Stacey Robinault, told ABC13 that she believes her daughter was murdered “from what I’ve been able to gather as well as a mother’s gut.” Police have not yet indicated that they believe Sharkey was murdered.
“We’re very broken. We’re very broken-hearted. It’s just painful for someone so bright and having so much to offer … just to be gone, to be snuffed out. I don’t know why. I don’t know why. The horrific nature of her last moments must’ve been … I can’t even. I can’t even go there,” Robinault told ABC 13.
Sharkey’s husband on Saturday informed her parents that she was missing and that he had not heard from her since Friday.
Robinault said in a Facebook post, “Please give us this time to grieve this incredible loss to our family and this world.”
It’s with deeply broken hearts that Mike and I want to let you all know that Lexi’s body has been found. We cannot…
