Meghan McCain says Merry Christmas to all except ‘healthy people under 65’ getting vaccine before front-line workers

“The View” co-host Meghan McCain criticized people in low-risk categories receiving the first doses of the coronavirus vaccine before front-line workers in a tweet Thursday.

“Merry Christmas to everyone except healthy people under 65 getting the vaccine before our frontline workers who have sacrificed everything for our country this year,” McCain tweeted.

Most states have prioritized the elderly and front-line health care workers for vaccinations.

Numerous members of Congress including House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) and Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) have publicly taken it to boost public confidence in its safety.

Those lawmakers are 65 years and older. 

However, others have announced they will put off the shot until those at higher risk can receive it.

“My staff and I will wait to get the vaccine at the appropriate time determined by our personal physicians,” Sen. Rick Scott (R-Fla.) said in a statement Wednesday. “I’ve asked that my office’s allotment be given to vulnerable populations that need the vaccine most.”

Reps. Brian Mast (R-Fla.), Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.), Tulsi Gabbard (D-Hawaii) and Jefferson Van Drew (R-N.J.), Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) and Rep.-elect Nancy Mace (R-S.C.) have made similar commitments.

“We are not more important than frontline workers, teachers etc. who are making sacrifices everyday. Which is why I won’t take it. People who need it most, should get it. Full stop,” Omar tweeted Monday.
