Ivanka Trump gets vaccine, urges public to do the same

Ivanka Trump shared a photo of herself getting the coronavirus vaccine on Wednesday and encouraged others to get it as well.

Today, I got the shot!!! I hope that you do too!” Trump tweeted.

Trump, the former president’s daughter, is following through on a vow she made on “The View” back in September when she told co-host Joy Behar she would get the vaccine when it came out.

During the show, Behar was concerned by how quickly former President Trump said the vaccine would come out and said she would take it if Ivanka Trump did. Ivanka Trump then tweeted that she would come on “The View” to take it.

Six months later, millions of Americans have received at least one dose of the coronavirus vaccine, and many states have opened up vaccine eligibility to those above the age of 18.

Many world leaders and politicians have received the vaccine in order to prove its safety to the public and to encourage others to get it. Ivanka Trump did not get the shot on TV, but she did tweet a photo.

The U.S. is currently using Moderna and Pfizer vaccines to vaccinate its population. Use of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine has been paused as health authorities evaluate its connection to rare blood clots.

Health officials said the goal is for the country to reach herd immunity, which will occur when 70 percent to 85 percent of people have received the vaccine.
