A Japanese man is accused of defrauding dozens of women in a serial dating scheme and receiving hundreds of dollars in gifts.

Takashi Miyagawa tricked at least 35 women into believing they were in a serious relationship and gave each woman a different date for his birthday so he was constantly receiving gifts, The Telegraph reported.

Miyagawa received over $800 in gifts during this scheme.

One woman believed his birthday was in February, another believed it was in April and another believed it was in July.

He allegedly convinced each woman that it was a serious relationship and he wanted to spend his whole life with them.

Miyagawa started this alleged scheme when he was selling shower products at a marketing company, according to The Telegraph.

When the women found about about the scheme, they reported him to the police and created a victims association.

The police are reportedly investigating to see if any other women were tricked by the scheme.
