Lawyer representing Cosby accusers: ‘He is not released because he is innocent’
An attorney representing three of Bill Cosby’s accusers objected to the Wednesday decision from a Pennsylvania appeals court that set him free over a previous agreement he made with a former district attorney.
“He is not released because he is innocent,” Lisa Bloom tweeted. “He is released because a prosecutor promised him years ago that he would not be brought to justice, without even making a deal for him to do time.”
The 3 Bill Cosby accusers I represent and I are disgusted that he is a free man today.
He is not released because he is innocent.

The Pennsylvania Supreme Court ruled 4-3 to overturn Cosby’s 2018 conviction, saying it violated his due process rights due to a deal he made with a prosecutor in 2005.
Former Montgomery County District Attorney Bruce Castor had told Cosby he would not charge him for the sexual assault allegations if he appeared in court for a civil suit that an alleged victim brought forth.
His testimony in the civil suit was later a key part of getting him convicted of criminal charges after a new prosecutor took over and did not honor Castor’s deal not to charge Cosby.
Cosby was released on Wednesday shortly after the court’s decision.
“Every day I fight for sexual assault victims and have to advise them of the ugly truth: the system still massively favors the rich and powerful. You need a superhuman level of strength and courage,” Bloom said. “Luckily many victims have it.”
“Any other Cosby victims, time to come forward!” she added.
