Top Trump lawyer Pat Cipollone to run DC branch for Browne George Ross
Former White House counsel Pat Cipollone will run the newly-created Washington, D.C. branch of Los Angeles-based law firm Browne George Ross O’Brein Annaguey & Ellis LLP.
The firm said in a statement that Cipollone will join the firm as name partner and member of its Executive Committee. The firm’s name is being changed to Ellis George Cipollone.
Also joining the firm are Pat Philbin and Kate Todd, both of whom worked under Cipollone in the White House counsel’s office.
Former President Trump chose Cipollone to serve as White House counsel in 2018, replacing then-counsel Don McGhan.
Cipollone notably led the defense team during Trump’s first impeachment trial last year. The team also included Ken Starr, Alan Dershowitz, Pam Bondi, Robert Jay and Jane Raskin.
Trump was impeached in December 2019 on abuse of power and obstructing Congress for pressuring Ukraine’s president to investigate the dealings of then-presidential candidate Joe Biden’s family. The Senate acquitted Trump of both charges in February last year.
Before his time as White House counsel, Cipollone spent most of his career at the law firm Kirkand & Ellis.
Also joining the firm is Christopher Landau, who served as U.S. Ambassador to Mexico under Trump.
