Queen Elizabeth II spent a night at the hospital on Wednesday after she was taken for “preliminary investigations,” Buckingham Palace said in a statement on Thursday night.

The 95-year-old British monarch has returned home after a brief stay at King Edward VII’s Hospital in London and is in “good spirits,” the BBC reported.

“Following medical advice to rest for a few days, the Queen attended hospital on Wednesday afternoon for some preliminary investigations, returning to Windsor Castle at lunchtime today, and remains in good spirits,” the Buckingham Palace statement said.

This is the queen’s first hospital stay since she had symptoms of gastroenteritis in 2013.

This palace statement comes after reports she received medical advice against traveling to Northern Ireland on an official visit later this week.

“Her Majesty is in good spirits and is disappointed that she will no longer be able to visit Northern Ireland, where she had been due to undertake a series of engagements today and tomorrow,” the statement said.

“The Queen sends her warmest good wishes to the people of Northern Ireland, and looks forward to visiting in the future,” it added.

She was also photographed using a walking stick while attending an armed forces charity event, which raised concerns about her health. She was last seen using a cane in public in 2003 shortly after undergoing knee surgery, The Associated Press noted.

The U.K. royal was also spotted on Tuesday night with U.S. climate envoy John Kerry in London after his recent appearance at the Earthshot Prize gala.

Elizabeth is also scheduled to lead the royal delegation at the climate summit in Glasgow, Scotland, in two weeks, according to BBC News.

She is currently the world’s longest-reigning monarch, and will host her platinum jubilee celebrations — to mark 70 years of her rule — next year in the U.K.
