Did the White House press Reid to negotiate with Lieberman?
That very well depends on who you ask.
Reportedly, White House officials have pushed Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) in recent days to work out a deal with Sen. Joe Lieberman (I-Conn.), presumably to avoid a messy political battle that could force Democrats to reconsider reconciliation.
But that’s not the story the White House is telling. As senior spokesman Dan Pfeiffer told The Plum Line:
“The report is inaccurate. The White House is not pushing Sen. Reid in any direction. We are working hand in hand with the Senate leadership to work through the various issues and pass health reform as soon as possible.”
