Former Rep. Pat Toomey’s (R-Pa.) Senate campaign announced Monday that it has raised $1 million in its first two months – a strong total for a candidate trying to lock down his party’s nomination.
Toomey also announced he has signed up some top Pennsylvania GOP fundraisers in Amy Petraglia and Carey Dunn, who have both worked for Sen. Arlen Specter (D-Pa.) in the past.
In early May, shortly after Specter’s switch to the Democratic Party, Toomey announced he had raised $500,000 in his first three weeks. The next half a million, it turns out, took only slightly longer.
Included in that total its $5,000 from National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) Chairman John Cornyn (R-Texas).
“I am honored by out the outpouring of support for my campaign,” Toomey said. “Thousands of people all across Pennsylvania and the country are rallying to our message of fiscal responsibility and bringing much-needed balance in Washington.”
