Murphy added to Frontline list

Rep. Scott Murphy (D-N.Y.), who won the drawn out special election for now Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand’s (D-N.Y.) former House seat last month, has been added to the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee’s Frontline program.

Murphy was added to ActBlue’s Frontline fundraising website on Friday

The Frontline program is designed to help protect vulnerable House Democrats by encouraging them to raise money early and ramp up outreach to their districts. Those efforts are intended to discourage Republican challengers.

Murphy defeated Republican New York Assemblyman Jim Tedisco in the hotly contested March 31 special election. The contest stretched well into April, as absentee ballots eventually determined the winner.

Murphy was sworn into Congress on April 29.

Murphy overcame a 70,000 Republican registration advantage in New York’s 20th District so, at first glance, it would certainly appear that Republicans will have a chance to take another shot at Murphy next year.
