Wilson gets repeat challenger

Iraq war veteran Rob Miller (D) will take another shot at Rep. Joe Wilson (R-S.C.) in 2010 after falling 54-46 in 2008.

“For too long, Congressman Wilson has been part of the problem in Washington,” Miller said in a statement announcing his candidacy.

“Instead of saying ‘no’ to creating good jobs in South Carolina, we need to invest in our future. In Congress, I will fight for policies that create jobs, support small businesses, and reign in out-of- control spending.”

Wilson wasn’t a national Democratic target in 2008, but he will be this cycle, thanks to his lackluster showing. The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) has targeted GOP members who were held to 55 percent or below last election.

He is the second newly targeted Republican to gain a repeat challenger this week, after Democrat Scott Harper filed to run against Rep. Judy Biggert (R-Ill.). Biggert was also held to 54 percent – a career low.
