Castle holds early lead in 2010 race against Biden

Rep. Mike Castle (R) holds an early lead over state Attorney General Beau BIden in a hypothetical 2010 Delaware Senate race matchup.

55 percent of Delaware voters told an independent Susquehanna Polling and Research survey that they’d vote for Castle in a matchup against Biden, the vice presidential son and army reservist.

34 percent of voters said they’d support Biden, while eight percent were undecided.

Republicans have pinned their hopes for the race on the 69-year-old Castle, who has long served as one of the state’s long statewide elected Republicans.

Neither Castle nor Biden have formally declared for the race, but both are thought to be interested in running. Democrats have recruited a top-tier candidate for Castle’s House seat, while Biden is serving currently in Iraq.
