Congresswoman Carolyn Maloney has hired a statewide finance director as she continues to weigh challenging newly appointed Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand in the Democratic primary next year.
Lewis Cohen, a former reporter, started working for Maloney on April 1, writes Azi Paybarah. Cohen has already set up a few fundraisers for Maloney but insisted to Paybarah that Maloney is not officially running for the Senate.
Maloney as well as Democratic Reps. Carolyn McCarthy and Steve Israel are all said to be considering a run against Gillibrand in the primary.
