Fisher rakes in $1M in first quarter
Ohio Lt. Gov. Lee Fisher said Tuesday that he has raised more than $1 million in his Senate run.
In a statement, Fisher said he has raised “in excess of $1 million in six weeks” but did not provide a specific number.
Fisher is currently locked in what is expected to be a tight Democratic primary with Ohio Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner in the race for retiring Sen. George Voinovich, a Republican.
Both candidates have held large fundraisers in their nascent campaigns. Fisher held a “Women for Fisher” event that brought in significant funds and Caroline Kennedy organized a New York fundraiser for Brunner.
Fisher also recently hired Geri Prado, a veteran of Hillary Clinton’s presidential unit, to run his campaign.
State Rep. Tyrone Yates is also running in the Democratic primary.
On the Republican side, former Rep. Rob Portman is considered the frontrunner. Car dealer Tom Ganley also recently announced that he is running for the GOP nomination.
