Is Blanche Lincoln vulnerable?

Sen. Blanche Lincoln’s (D-Ark.) job approval numbers in a recent poll show she may not have a lock on re-election. But, lucky for her, there doesn’t appear to be a credible Republican challenger ready to take her on.

The Public Policy Polling survey, released Wednesday, found that Lincoln has a 45 percent approval rating, while 40 percent disapprove of her performance. Among independents, half disapprove of her performance while three in ten approve of it.

In spite of those numbers, Republicans don’t have a candidate that poses a serious threat to Lincoln. Lincoln beats former U.S. Attorney Tim Griffin 46 percent to 38 and state Sen. Gilbert Baker 48 percent to 37, both of whom were virtually unknown to respondents in the poll.

There was a margin of error of plus or minus 4 percent in the poll.
