Burris launches bare-bones 2010 website

Embattled Sen. Roland Burris (D-Ill.) is asking for your support.

The Illinois lawmaker went live with his 2010 reelection website, SupportBurris.com, seeking to lay the groundwork to fend off a Democratic primary challenger and perhaps a Republican general election challenge in two years.

“Thank you for your support,” Burris says in a short statement on the site’s homepage. “I look forward to serving the great people of Illinois.”

The website’s launch comes amidst probes into Burris’s actions while trying to secure his eventually successful nomination to the Senate, and calls from senior politicians in his own party for him to resign his Senate seat.

The site is still in its infancy, according to a quick browse of the site: its sections on Additional Info, Endorsements, Issues, Legislation, Accomplishments, News Articles, Press Releases, Events, Photos & Videos, and Downloads were all empty as of late Monday morning.

Check out the website of Illinois State Treasurer Alexi Giannoulias, a likely Burris primary challenger, here.
