Schumer gears up for reelection

Though we often forget it because it is unlikely he’ll face a serious challenge, Sen. Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) is up for reelection next year.

He kicked off his campaign on Wednesday with an email to supporters and a new website: www.ChuckSchumer.com.

And here’s the email he sent:

Dear xvxvxv

Once again, the opportunity approaches to present my case to the voters of New York for my re-election in 2010. And I’m proud to announce our new reelection campaign website is now up and running!

At ChuckSchumer.com, you’ll be able to see the latest news about the campaign, find ways to get involved, and take this campaign into your own hands.

You’ll also be able to follow my initiatives in Congress and do your part to advance the solutions we all care about, like making sure there’s a public health care option as part of health care reform.

Check out ChuckSchumer.com today and tell your friends to join the process, too.

This website is an exciting development, but having a website isn’t enough by itself to guarantee success. I’m going to need help from everyday supporters like you as we take on the really tough issues and forge creative solutions that will improve peoples’ lives.

Special interests are already preparing their usual distractions and stall tactics around issues like the public health care option. Major health care special interests have already launched an offensive aimed at derailing this crucial reform.

It’s going to take everyone fighting together, side by side, to counteract that and make real progress happen — in a way that lowers the crushing cost of health care and expands coverage to the vulnerable and uninsured.

I hope you’ll go to ChuckSchumer.com now and forward this email to all your friends and family who are looking to take on a fight like health care or just want to get more involved:

Chuck
