Fossella Ties Himself to Bloomberg

Outgoing Rep. Vito Fossella (R-N.Y.) returned a favor to New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg (I) by pledging his support for Bloomberg’s re-election bid.

Bloomberg was one of the few officials outside Fossella’s Staten Island district to appear at a thank-you breakfast on Sunday for the congressman, who was convicted on a drunk driving charge last month and admitted to an affair earlier this year.

At the event, Fossella thanked Bloomberg.

“I will support the mayor 100 percent in whatever he runs for,” Fossella said, according to The New York Observer.

Bloomberg will be running for a third term in 2009. It will be his first race without a party; he won both of his terms as a Republican.
