NRCC Continues to Spend Against Rep. Jefferson

The National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) continued its modest spending to unseat indicted Rep. William Jefferson (D) in Louisiana’s 2nd congressional district runoff on Saturday.

According to Federal Election Commission (FEC) filings Wednesday, the NRCC spent an additional $6,500 on printing costs in favor of Republican Anh “Joseph” Cao. The NRCC has spent just under $21,000 on behalf of Cao in the race.

Jefferson was indicted on federal corruption charges in June 2007, fueling Republicans’ hopes that they could capture the district, which represents New Orleans. The district has a “solid Democrat” rating of D+28 from the Cook Political Report.
