Rubio rakes in $250K for Florida Senate bid

Marco Rubio, the Republican former speaker of the Florida House of Representatives, has raised $250,000 in 25 days for his possible Senate run, the St. Petersburg Times reports.

Rubio has flown somewhat under the radar in the race because many expect that he will run for governor if GOP Gov. Charlie Crist runs for the Senate instead of reelection.

In addition to Crist and Rubio, Rep. Vern Buchanan continues to consider running for the seat, which retiring Sen. Mel Martinez (R) vacating.

If Rubio does run for the Senate, he’ll be up against Democratic Rep. Kendrick Meek’s big first quarter haul of $1.5 million.
