President-elect Barack Obama did not win Florida’s 27 Electoral Votes on November 4, an Associated Press review of the state’s vote found. Rather, the Illinois Democrat bested Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) through building an advantage amongst the state’s early voters.
McCain beat Obama by almost five percent on Election Day, but Obama had an 11 point advantage among those who cast their ballot early, helping seal Obama’s overall victory in the state.
Almost a quarter of the state’s votes were cast early between October 20 and November 2, the AP found.
