The Pennsylvania recreation center where President-elect Barack Obama bowled so miserably during the Democratic primary is putting the infamous lane up for auction on eBay.
Obama bowled a 37 over seven frames at Altoona, Pa.’s Pleasant Valley Recreation Center in March. Afterward, he told the Central Pennsylvanians in attendance, “My economic plan is better than my bowling.”
Someone yelled out: “It has to be.”
Jean Montgomery and Bob DiVentura, co-owners of the rec center, will put lane 21 up for auction on eBay today, they say, with bidding is slated to end Nov. 23. The two have set up a website to promote the auction.
The lane will be disassembled, shipped, and reassembled at the location of the buyer’s choice, according to a press release put out by Montgomery and DiVentura.
“It is a true collector’s item that the buyer can be sure no one else can claim a duplicate,” DiVentura said.
Obama was roundly mocked by pundits, critics, casual observers, bowlers, Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-N.Y.), and some of his own supporters after his woeful performance at the Pennsylvania lanes.
