Barack Obama will campaign with the last two Democrats to win the White House on Tuesday, according to The New Republic.
President Bill Clinton and actor Jimmy Smits, whose “West Wing” character Matt Santos captured the presidency in the final year of the NBC drama, will appear with Obama in Orlando, Fla. It’s supposed to be the final campaign rally focused on turning out Latino voters, according to TNR’s Michelle Cottle.
Obama’s candidacy has several similarities to Santos’s. In the television show, Santos, a young, little-known congressman, became the first Hispanic president by defeating a straight-talking, white-haired Republican from the West (played by Alan Alda). The show was cancelled before viewers got see Santos govern.
