McCain Takes Helicopter to Letterman

John McCain, stuck at an airport but unwilling to stiff David Letterman a second straight time, took a helicopter from Philadelphia to New York on Thursday, reports the Chicago Tribune’s Jill Zuckman.

McCain chose to travel via chopper after his flight from to Newark, N.J., was delayed for two hours.

McCain canceled an appearance on the “Late Show” last month when he decided to suspend his campaign and fly from New York to Washington to participate in economic bailout talks. Before McCain left Gotham that day, he gave an interview to Letterman’s CBS colleague Katie Couric, which ticked off Letterman.

“The things we do for Letterman,” joked McCain’s traveling buddy Steve Duprey told Zuckman.
