Weiner wavering on mayoral bid?

Rep. Anthony Weiner (D-N.Y.) sounds a whole lot less sure about running for mayor of New York City.

The sixth-term congressman now says he will not decide on the race until late spring, according to The New York Times.

The Times reported that Weiner wrote in a letter to supporters that he would decide on the race in late May.

It has been a foregone conclusion that he would enter the race, as he has already raised more than $6 million for it.

He ran for mayor in 2005, losing the Democratic primary to former Bronx Borough President Fernando Ferrer. This year, he faces a primary with city Comptroller William Thompson.

The calculus might have changed for Weiner after Mayor Michael Bloomberg (I) announced he wanted to run for a third term and successfully campaigned to change the city
