Book Singled Out By Palin’s Old Church Going For $525

“Pastor, I Am Gay,” the book that stirred up controversy in the hometown of Republican veep nominee Sarah Palin, is now selling for more than $500 on Amazon.com.

When Palin was mayor of Wasilla, Alaska, in the late 1990s, her church at the time, the Wasilla Assembly of God, pushed to have “Pastor, I Am Gay” removed from local bookstores. Palin, who once asked Wasilla’s librarian about the policy of removing books from the city’s library, has also faced questions over whether she sought to ban books. She has denied doing so.

Two copies of “Pastor, I Am Gay” are now selling for $525 and $524.99, respectively, on Amazon.

When asked by the Mat-Su Valley Frontiersman about the steep prices, the book’s author, Howard Bess, said, “I just laugh at it.”

Bess is a pastor at a church in a Palmer, Alaska, a neighbor to Wasilla. He told the newspaper that he has provided several copies to Wasilla’s library, only to see them disappear.

The book can be had for cheaper; it’s selling in a Palmer bookstore for $14.99, the Frontiersman noted.
