Michigan GOP Chairman Anuzis Launches Bid for RNC Chairman
Saul Anuzis, the chairman of the Michigan Republican Party, told MSNBC that he’ll seek the top post at the Republican National Committee.
“The country asked for change,” Anuzis told MSNBC’s First Read blog. “And that was not just Democrats.”
Anuzis first announced his bid to become RNC chairman on Twitter, Facebook and on other blogs, signaling that he’ll stress the need for his party to use new technology. He has been a political operative since the early 1980s, running a U.S. Senate race and working for the National Republican Senatorial Committee and GOP House candidates.
Anuzis is the first official candidate for the RNC post. Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich (Ga.), former Maryland Lt. Gov. Michael Steel and former Sen. Fred Thompson (Tenn.) have been mentioned as possible candidates.
