Fox Calls Kentucky Senate Race for McConnell

Fox News is projecting Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) to hold onto his Senate seat despite heavy spending from millio opponent Bruce Lunsford and the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC).

McConnell leads Lunsford 51 percent to 49 percent with 51 percent of precincts reporting.

The DSCC has sought revenge against McConnell for the 2004 unseating of Senate Minority Leader Tom Daschle (D-S.D.) by Sen. John Thune (R-S.D.), making the race a top priority for 2008. The DSCC has spent millions augmenting Lunsford’s already expensive campaign, as the Democrat spend $5.5 million of his own money on the race according to his filings with the Federal Election Commission.
