Palin Says She Will Likely Release Medical Records

GOP vice presidential pick Sarah Palin told NBC “Nightly News” anchor Brian Williams that she will most likely release her medical records.

The debate over the release of medical records has been ongoing this campaign season. McCain drew criticism for releasing his own records in a restricted way this spring, as a handful of news outlets were invited to review nearly 1,200 pages of McCain’s records for a few hours at an Arizona resort, though none were allowed to make photocopies or remove them from the room. McCain did release hard copies of his records back in 1999 while running in the GOP presidential primary against then-Texas Gov. George W. Bush, and he released a summary of his records this year.

A New York Times article on Sunday suggested none of the four candidates have provided enough information about their health histories, bringing the issue of medical records back into the campaign spotlight.

Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama has released a one page summary of his own medical records, while his running mate, Sen. Joe Biden (Del.), has released 49 pages detailing his medical history.

Palin has not said when her medical records will be released.
