Senators Petition for Study of Fla. Polling Sites
Top senators petitioned Wednesday to allow an investigative branch of Congress to study Florida polling sites for instances of voter discrimination.
The Government Accountability Office (GAO) randomly selected 100 American counties to examine the level of voting access for the elderly and people with disabilities on Election Day, Nov. 4. Included in the selection were Florida’s Miami-Dade, Broward, Pinellas, and Hillsborough counties.
Florida is the only state that has refused to grant the GAO access to the requested polling places, according to a letter sent by Sens. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) and Herb Kohl (D-Wis.) to Florida Secretary of State Kurt S. Browning.
