Dem House Hopeful Launches Drive to Fire Paulson

A Democrat running for Congress in Alabama taking is trying to draw some attention by launching a petition seeking the ouster of Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson.

Attorney Josh Segall, a well-funded Democrat with an outside chance of knocking off Rep. Mike Rogers (R-Ala.), launched www.firepaulsonnow.com on Monday.

The site also seeks to highlight Rogers’s vote in favor of the $700 billion economic bailout bill. His campaign said it is being launched in response to an outcry from supporters.

“Secretary Paulson came to Congress, asked for $700 billion with a three-page proposal that included little oversight, no plan for how he’d spend the money, and Mike Rogers said ‘yes,'” Segall said. “I would have said no.”

Numerous candidates around the country have tried to use an incumbent’s vote for the bailout to draw a distinction in their campaign.
