Obama Ads Mock McCain on Computers, Seek to Reclaim ‘Change’ Mantle
Barack Obama’s campaign will air a TV ad mocking John McCain’s self-proclaimed computer illiteracy, the campaign announced this morning after pledging to get more aggressive in attacking John McCain. The ad will be coupled with another, more positive ad in which Obama tells viewers what “change” means to him.
“Things have changed in the last 26 years. But McCain hasn’t,” a narrator says in the ad. “He admits he still doesn’t know how to use a computer, can’t send an e-mail.”
McCain admitted in June that he is computer “illiterate.”
The second ad seeks to re-identify Obama as the candidate who will bring change to the country, as McCain and Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R) have looked to wrest that mantle from Obama of late, introducing a heavy dose of “change” messaging into their campaign since the GOP’s convention last week.
The ads will air nationwide on cable TV and in on network affiliates in “key states,” according to the Obama camp.
