Rep. Jim Gerlach (R-Pa.) all but ruled out a run for the Senate next year, telling a Pennsylvania newspaper he’d focus on a run for the governorship or another race for his House seat.
“That is pretty much off the table,” Gerlach told The Morning Call’s Pennsylvania Ave. blog about a Senate run.
Gerlach, a centrist Republican, had been a rumored candidate with statewide ambitions amidst GOP worries about the viability of former Rep. Pat Toomey’s (R) candidacy.
Gerlach said it’d “be safe to say” he’ll run for governor, or for reelection.
