Reports are swirling in Minnesota that the Supreme Court in that state could rule in the drawn-out Senate contest between Democrat Al Franken and former Sen. Norm Coleman (R).
A campaign source in Minnesota confirms that they’re hearing the same rumors reported in the the St. Paul Legal Ledger, that a ruling in the protracted race will come today.
The court is hearing an appeal from Coleman challenging the outcome of a three-judge panel’s decision that Franken had won the vote by a 300-some vote margin.
Many observers have expected Franken to emerge victorious in the race since taking the lead in the recount earlier this year.
At issue in Coleman’s appeal is the standards by which previously disqualified absentee ballots were included in the final tally.
