Poll: Sen. Martinez Vulnerable in 2010

Sen. Mel Martinez (R-Fla.) could face a tough reelection bid in 2010, a new poll finds.

Martinez had a 23 percent approval rating in his home state and failed to beat two possible 2010 opponents in a survey conducted by Public Policy Polling.

The firm compared Martinez to Rep. Robert Wexler (D-Fla.) and Florida Chief Financial Officer Alex Sink (D). Wexler tied Martinez at 33 percent, while Sink beat the GOP senator 37 percent to 31 percent. Sink and Wexler have both been bandied as possible opponents for Martinez in the liberal blogosphere.

The polling firm surveyed 723 Floridians June 26 to 29 for the study.
