Comedian Wanda Sykes was on “cloud nine” after her performance at Saturday’s White House Correspondents’ Association dinner
She entered the Capitol File after party around 1 a.m. to screams, cheers and applause. Top Chef host Padma Lakshmi ran up to her, gave her a big hug and screamed “You did so great.” Actors Forest Whitaker and Dule Hill also pushed their way through the crowd of admirers to shake her hand and offer their congratulations.
Sykes admitted the night seemed a bit surreal. “It still hasn’t sunk in yet. I haven’t absorbed it,” she told The Hill about her dinner experience.
But President Obama gave her a thumbs up.
“He told me I did a great job,” Sykes said. “The first lady said the same thing. I got a well done from the president, I’m on cloud nine.”
