Biden to make Gridiron appearance tonight

Vice President Joe Biden will speak at the annual Gridiron dinner in President Obama’s absence, the White House announced Friday night.

Biden will speak at the ironically closed-press annual dinner for journalists after Obama made waves for choosing to skip tonight’s engagement, a first for a president in his first year in office since Grover Cleveland.

Obama cited the First Daughters’ spring break as his reason for skipping the exclusive dinner. The First Family is at Camp David for the weekend.

Look for The Hill’s coverage of the dinner later tonight and tomorrow.
