White Sox Crafting ‘Obama Hat’
President-elect Obama’s favorite baseball team, the Chicago White Sox, is trying to come up with a hat in his honor.
The South Side team, which Obama prefers over the Chicago’s more popular squad, the Cubs, said that if Obama’s White House approves of the cap, it will sell the caps and donate the proceeds to charity, reports the Chicago Tribune.
Obama is regularly seen wearing the traditional black and white Sox cap on his way to his daily workouts in the morning.
White Sox chairman Jerry Reinsdorf told the Tribune that he’s even willing to defer to Obama on some baseball matters.
“Hey, he’s the president,” Reinsdorf said. “He’s not going to tell us how to pitch a guy, but if he calls me from the Oval Office and tells us to get Sammy Sosa, we’ll get Sammy Sosa, OK?”
