NYT: Emanuel Expected to Accept Chief of Staff Job

Rep. Rahm Emanuel (D-Ill.) is expected to accept President-elect Barack Obama’s offer to be White House chief of staff, the New York Times reported Wednesday afternoon.

Obama tapped Emanuel, a high-ranking House Democrat and consistent backer throughout the Democratic primaries, late yesterday with an acceptance apparently coming today.

Emanuel “has been offered the post of his White House chief of staff and is expected to accept, according to Democrats familiar with the process,” the Times reported.

Emanuel is no stranger to the White House, having worked as an assistant to the president during the Clinton administration.
