Bush Most Blameworthy for Recession: Time Readers

Former President George W. Bush is the most blameworthy individual for the current financial crisis, Time magazine’s readers are saying.

As part of a feature on the 25 most culpable people for the nation’s economic woes, readers voted on a one to 10 scale on how responsible the more than two dozen individuals Time profiled were for the recession.

The “winner”? Former President Bush.

Bush received the most votes as of mid-Thursday morning, pulling away from a pack that includes former Sen. Phil Gramm (R-Texas), Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Chairman Christopher Cox, and corporate chieftain Dick Fuld.

Former President Bill Clinton was the 23rd most blameworthy before 11 a.m. Thursday, and former Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan checked in at 17th.
