Interior Department Plans to Hire a ‘Stimulus Czar’
Interior Secretary Ken Salazar announced on Friday that he will be hiring a “stimulus czar” to implement the new $787 billion law.
In a press briefing, the former Democratic senator from Colorado noted that the money for this newly created position will not be taken from the stimulus funds, but is a part of the Department of Interior’s (DOI) regular appropriations budget.
Salazar indicated the search is underway to hire an individual who is an expert in troubled assets and the budget process. DOI will be getting more than $3 billion from the stimulus.
