Blago denied permission for NBC reality show
UPDATE: U.S. District Court James Zagel on Tuesday denied indicted former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich request to travel to Costa Rica to appear on NBC’s “I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here” reality television show.
The Chicago Tribune reports that prosecutors argued that Blagojevich could flee if allowed to participate in the show. Despite Blagojevich’s defense attorney’s argument that NBC had agreed to provide two security guards, Zagel ruled against the former governor.
Blagojevich didn’t seem that disappointed by the ruling, according to the Tribune report. “This is another day in the big city,” he said. “I know what the truth is when it concerns me, and I know that I’ve done absolutely nothing wrong. …I’m actually looking forward to this day in court. …I want to prove my innocence, I want to vindicate myself.”
And Blagojevich, who initially went on a media tour to declear his innocence, encouraged others to get some air time. “Want to get on TV? Come on in!” he yelled one onlooker, according to the report.
